In Praise of Brahmcharin

The Brahmcharin sets in motion both the heaven and earth I him the gods are in harmony. He sustains heaven and earth, he fills the teacher with creative fervour.

The fathers, the fold and all the gods severally follow the Brahmcharin. The Gandharvas follow him, six thousand three hundred and thirty. He fills all the gods with tapas.

When the teacher takes the Brahmcharin under him as a disciple, he makes him an embryo within hem. He bears him for three nights in his belly, and when he is born the gods assemble to see him.

This piece of fuel is earth, the sky the second, and the atmosphere also he fills with the piece of firewood. The Brahmcharin fills the worlds with fuel, girdle, austerity and creative fervour.

Born prior to Brahma, the Brahmcharin, clothed in heat, by creative fervour did he rise. Form him was born the Brahman, the highest Brahman, and all the gods together with amrita.

The Brahmcharin advances kindled with fuel, clothed in black antelope skin, consecrated and bearded. He moves from eastern to the western ocean, grasping the worlds he shapes again and again!

The Brahmcharin, generating the Brahma, the waters, the world Prajapati, Parmesthin and Viraj, having become an embryo in the womb of immortality, became verily Indra, and pierced the demons.

The teacher fashioned out booth these hemispheres, the wide and the deep, earth and heaven. The Brahmcharin preserves them by his creative fervour, in him the gods are harmonized.

This wide earth and the heaven the Brahmcharin brought hither as alms. Having turned them into two fuel stick, he worships them, upon them all beings rest.
