For him, who scores victory overall, the Lord of truth, of wealth, horses and kine, for him who is Lord of waters and other resources, for Indra, the holy, shed Soma juice. For him who smashes and destroys the enemy, the ever winner, never conquered, the protector from enemy onslaught, worthy to rule over all, for heroic Indra, sing your sacred prayer. O Indra, grant us the best of boons, a pondering mind and fortune, increase of wealth, protection to our bodies, the sweet winsome speech, and days that are pleasant and fair.

At the Trikadrukeshu ceremony, the mighty Indra has drunk. Soma blent with barely meal. With Vishnu, he hath drunk the juice to his fill, and it has waxed him strong to perform his mighty deeds. So, may Indra attain the other God, Soma, the true. He, who is resplendent and might, overcame the demon Krivi in the battle by his strength. He waxes strong with his might and fills both the world with his majesty. One share of libaton he has devoured and the other he has left. So, may God attain the other God.

This hymn to Aditya, the wise and self-effulgent, shall be supreme above all for ever! I beg Varuna, the mighty for fame, the God who is exceedingly gracious to all those who worship him. May we possess ample wealth through these hymns of ours, sung in thy service with great care and reverence. O Varuna! We laud thee like the fires that are kindled each morning with their promise of kine and wealth. May we be ever under thy protection, O Lord of heroes, the king of vast kingdom. O Sons of boundless Aditi, Gods ever faithful, forgive our sins, and admit us unto thy friendship. He, the God Varuna, made the rivers flow. They flow on at his command, their sustainer. They stop not flowing, nor get tired and they run swift like birds in flight in the air. Loose me from sin as from bond that binds, may our life swell you river of Law, O Varuna! Let not the thread of my life be severed while I weave the web of song, nor my work be cut short before its time, O Lord!

Sweep far away from me, all dangers. O Varuna, accept me favourably you holy Lord! Release me from my troubles that enslave me, like a calf from its cords. I am powerless even to wink my eyes without your help. Strike us not with dreadful weapons which strike the wicked at the command. May we never pass into darkness from light. Scatter them for our comfort far away who would harm us. As of yore, we will sing your praise, O almighty God, now and hereafter. In thyself, O invincible, are fixed firmly thy statue, as on a mountain. Sweep far away from me the sins committed by me, let me not suffer for the sin of other. Many more mornings remain to shine on us. May we enjoy them as long as we live. O Varuna, protect us from the man, be he a friend or relation who has threatened my peace even in a dream, affrighting me, and the wolf or the thief who wish to harm us. Let me never be deprived of my rich and liberal dear friend, O Varuna, may I never lack well managed wealth. May we speak out our mind loudly in the assembly as heroes!

O Gods, truly ye are our kinsmen, be ye kind to me who now supplicates. May your care never come slowly to our rites, nor we be ever weary of kinsmen such as ye are. I alone have committed many a sin against you, and you chastised me as a sire his gambler son. Far removed be mine offences, and so be your snares. Swoop ye down not upon me as does a bird on its offspring. Come unto us now ye holy Gods, that we with awe may approach to win you over. Protect us, O Gods from the wolf who would devour us. Save us from falling into a pit.

O Father of winds, let your grace shine on us. Let us not be deprived of the light of the Sun. May the hero on his steed be kind to us, may we live forth in our progeny. O Rudra, with your efficacious medicines, which you administer to cure us, May I live for hundred years. Banish from us all hatred and trouble and maladies to four quarters. O mighties among the might, most famed, ye thunderer, escort us across the mighty, most famed, ye thunderer, escort us across the troubles to our weal and remove all assaults of the wicked. May we never displease you, O Rudra, with worship, by ill-praise or scanty devotion. Restore our heroes to health with your best balms, for I know, thou art the best of physicians.

Where is thy gracious hand, O Rudra, whose benign touch I crave, which heals and grants comfort, which removes the punishments sent by Gods. O Mighty God, look upon me with a compassionate eye. To him, who is mighty, great, fair-complexioned, I sing a lofty song of praise. We serve him with lauds, we magnify the splendid name of Rudra. This God of firm limbs and of many forms, the might and tawny, decks himself with bright gold ornaments. The power divine of this sovereign Lord, the ruler over the world never diminishes, worthy are you of your bow and arrows, worthy of the multi-hued and splendid insignia. Worthy you are to meet and overthrow any fiend, for there is none more mighty than you. Praise him, the car-borne, far renowned, the ever young God, who slays like a fierce beast of the wild. O Rudra, praised and hymned, be gracious to your singers, let your hosts spare us and strike down some other. Just as a son makes obeisance to his sire with reverence, so I bow down to you, O God, as you approach. I praise you, the bounteous Lord, giver of riches. Grant us medicines as thou art praised. The remedies so efficacious and pure, which are so wholesome and health-giving, which our father Manu chose, I beg from Rudra for our wellbeing. May Rudra’s missiles deflect and spare us, may great Rudra’s wrath spare us. Turn your bow aside from our friends and well-wishers, O Rudra, and be gracious to our sons and their children! O mighty Bull, who never slumbers, slay us not. Here, listen to our invocation. May we speak out our mind in the assembly loudly like heroes.

Savitar, the God who lights up and sustain the world, has risen up to urge the priest to his sacrificial duty. He grants riches to the Gods, and beatitude to the man who invites Gods to the sacrifice. Having risen up, the God, spreads his arms widely forth for the good of the world. The sacred waters flow in his service, and the winds blow in limitless space. Though borne on swift rays, he will yet unyoke them and stop the car from moving. He controls the haste of those who slink away like serpents. Night follows Savitar closely.

Then the warrior, desiring victory, returns from the battle, all the living beings begin to long for their dwellings, and the artisans leave their work unfinished.

At sunset, when Varuna seeks his abode in haste, and bird their nests and beasts their shelters, God Savitar provides a nice dwelling to each creature. Him whose Law is inviolate for Indra, Varuna, Mitra, Aryamen, Rudra and the wicked foe-men, the God Savitar, I call upon now for my welfare. He protect us mortals and the celestial Dames. May the Gods worthy of invocation, most wise, mighty, help us. May we attain bliss, wealth and favour of Savitar. May the riches come to us from heavens, and earth and waters, bestowed upon us by the Gods.

Soma and Pushan, the parents of riches, of the Heaven and Earth, the Twain the guardian of the world, are the centre of eternal life. At their birth all the other Gods rejoice. With Soma, Pushan and other Gods, Indra cause to generate the fresh, Warm milk in the new milch-kine. O soma and Pushan, come hither on your seven-wheeled car of your, five-reined and yoked by thought, O Gods, moving everywhere, inspires only the chosen ones. Pushan, the divine dwells in the highest realm, and on the earth and in the mid-region dwells Soma. May ye grant us ample wealth, the source of nourishing food and enjoyment, craved so much and by so many men. One of ye Twain, is the Father of all the beings, the other travels forth inspecting all. May ye God protect our Yajna, may we overcome all our foemen with your aid. May Pushan, urge our thoughts, may soma grant us wealth. May Aditi the boundless help us. May we speak out our mind loudly in the assembly of the learned like heroes.
