Jai Maa Durga |

The Gods were dismayed and dumb-founded on seeing the fathomless and limitless powers of Raktbeeja alone who had multiplied himself by millions and there was no stop to his multiplication! They were in the grip of fear and depression. They felt that they would never get their kingdom back from the powerful clutches of the demons. A single and lone Raktbeeja was successfully facing the whole army of Gods and Goddesses.
Seeing the Gods crest-fallen and fear-stricken, Durga called Kali to her side. Kali protruding her horrible tongue, wielding the curved sword in her hand and bedecked with the garland of human heads round her neck stood before Durga.
Durga said to Kali, "O Chamunda! There comes to my mind only one way of killing Raktbeeja. You devise ways and means so that not a drop of his blood falls to the earth! you widen your mouth all around on the battlefield and wander about with insatiable Khappar in both your hands to hold the blood of Raktbeeja. Store all the blood drops in your mouth or in your 'Khappar' so that fresh Raktbeejas are not born. I will myself kill all these old and stale Raktbeejas!"
Kali replied, "I will do your bidding. Now, not a drop of his blood shall touch the earth!"
Having planned thus, the battle was resumed with all its fury. All the motherly forces launched a massive combined attack on the demon army.
Indrani by the powerful assaults of her Vajra killed countless Raktbeejas. Kali filled her 'Khappar' with their blood and drank it eagerly. Not a drop of blood fell to the earth.
Kaumari was hurling her 'Shakti'. Varahi was wielding her sword violently and Maheshwari was hurling her trident so swiftly that the Raktbeejas were being uprooted from the battle-field. Vaishnavi caused great destruction of the demons with her Sudershana Chakra.
Now Durga hurled her unfailing trident at the real Raktbeeja. Blood gushed forth from his body which was directly drunk by Kali, not a drop falling to the ground.
Now no new Raktbeeja could crop up by Virtue of Kali's grace.
