This reverent pair, vast, far flung, variegated, I address at this our sacrifice. May this blessed pair come to our aid. O Heaven and Earth protect us from evil! Whatever sin as we might have committed any time against the Gods, a friend, or a chief, of this may our this hymn be expiation. O Heaven and Earth protect us from evil! May Heaven and Earth, bless and preserve me with their aids and favour. May they grant riches to the men more liberal than the godless. May we, ye Gods be strong with plenty of nourishing food! With great understanding I have uttered the truth, for all to hear on Earth and Heaven. Protect us from every evil, be near unto us and preserve us. Ye Father and Mother! Fulfil, ye Earth and Heaven, this my prayer, wherewith, Father and Mother I address you! Be nearest of all Gods with your protection. May we have wholesome food in abundance.
Now my song will glorify Food, giver of strength through whom the Keeper of nectar smote the Demon dead. O Savoury Food, Food so sweet, thee we have chosen as our own, be our kind protector! Come to us, O delightful Food and bring pleasant refreshment. Be thou our friend, health-giving and guileless! Your flavours, O Food, throughout the atmosphere are spread, like winds they are scattered. O Food, you are the sweetest and the best, and all these gifts are thine. You juices create energy and delight in all the creatures. In you, O Food, abides all that the greatest Gods desire. Brave deeds were done under your flag, he slew the Demon under it. If you have gone into the splendour of high mountains, even from there, O sweet Food, return to us for our enjoyment.
By Righteous path lead us to riches, Agni, lead us, O Lord, you know every duty. Deliver to us from the sun that leads astray. We shall hymn ye with ample praise. Lead us afresh, O Lord, to bliss, lead us across the dangers and pitfalls. Be thou unto us, a high, broad and powerful tower, bless and grant peace and well being to our children. Sweep away from us, Agni, all diseases, let them strike those who do not have Agni to their aid. May our dwellings be full of blessings, with all the Gods present, O Holy.
Consign us not as a prey to the wicked and the enemy, O Lord. Give us not over to the fanged that bites, nor to the toothless. Give us up not, thou conqueror, to the spoiler. A God like you, born after law, O Agni, giveth protection when lauded, preserving him against harm and reproach, for you O Lord, rescuest him from all ambush. To this Lord, we have addressed these words, I son of Man, have lauded Agni, the mighty. May we acquire wealth with the aid of seers, and be enriched with nourishing food in full abundance!
