Let us effuse the Soma juice for Jatvedas, may be consume the wealth of a wicked man. May he carry us beyond all difficulties and troubles, as if in a boat crossing a river!

May Indra, the cause or rains, resplendent King of the earth and heaven, the home of strength, associated with the Maruts, worthy of acceptance, be invoked for our protection! May Indra whose glory is like the Sun, the slayer of Vritra, present in every fray, the mightiest, girt by the Maruts, be ever for our protection. The limits of Indra’s power cannot be reached, neither by the Gods, however divine, nor by men, nor yet by the Waters. In might he surpasses both Heaven and Earth. May he, in association with Maruts be our protector.

Mighty Indra’s power shines in the heaven in one form, the other shines on the earth, and is possessed by the sages of yore. The one in the heaven and the other on the earth, both manifest his glory like a bright banner in a battle. Indra who spread the earth wide and sustains it, struck the lightning with his bolt and unloosed the floods, he also struck dead the demons. To Indra, the mighty and true hero, who is the author of many noble deeds, to him verily we pour out our Soma juice. It is he who takes away wealth from the godless men who do not perform the Yajna. O Indra, thou did a glorious deed when you awoke the slumbering foe with thy bolt. Then the divine Dames were delighted, the Maruts and all the other Gods were overjoyed, much pleased and exulted were they, when you destroyed the enemy forts as the Sun destroys the mighty clouds. May this prayer of ours Varuna grant, and Mitra, Aditi, Sindhu, Earth and Heaven!

We have made an altar for Indra to rest upon. Hasten thou hither to sit upon it as a panting horse. Loosen your steeds, set free your flying coursers, who bear you day and night to distant places. Grant us, Indra, a share of sunlight, of waters, freedom from sin, and good reputation. Do not in any way harm our heart-desired joys for we have great trust in thy mighty powers! We place our trust in you and your truthfulness. Do not deprive us of good food and noble offspring. O Indra, invoked by many do not consign us to destitute houses. Lead thou to ample riches and provide us with food and drink when hungry. Harm us not, O Indra, forsake us not, deprive us not of the enjoyments dear to us, nor injure our unborn offspring, nor take away our vessels of gold and steel. Come to us, O lover of Soma, we have it ready for you. Drink of it for joy. Let the juice be within you and when called upon, listen us as a father does his sons.

Those who desire wealth gain it, wife enjoys the closeness of the husband, and they entwined in each others embrace, both share the bliss. Mark this my hymn, O Earth and Heaven! I ask, the Sacrifice should as a messenger tell me the truth. Where is the ancient law divine? Who bears it amongst the modern men? Mark this my hymn, O Earth and Heaven! O Gods, abiding in the three lucid regions of the heaven, tell me, what is truth and untruth? Where is my call on you of yore? Mark this hymn, O Varun’s watchful eye? How can we go beyond the wicked on the path to Aryaman? Mark this my hymn, O Earth and Heaven! I the thoughtful sang many a laud of old when Soma was effused, yet carrion cares consume me like a wolf who attacks a thirsty deer. Mark this my hymn, O Earth and Heaven!
