?Listen, O chief of sages,? said the king, ?Rama is now perfect in every accomplishment. Servants and ministers and the whole body of citizens, whether they be my enemies or friends or neither,

-hold Rama as dear as I do, as though my lord’s blessing itself had taken a glorious bodily form. What is more, my lord, all the Brahmans and their families have the same love for him as you have.

Those who place on their heads the dust of their guru’s feet acquire mastery over all fortune. No one has realized it as I have done, but all that I have flows from the adoration of your sacred dust.

I have now a longing at heart, and that too will be accomplished, my lord, by your grace.’ The sage was pleased to witness his artless devotion and said, ‘Tell me, O king, your will.

O king, your name and glory ensure fulfillment of all desires. The object of your heart’s desire, O jewel of monarchs, is accomplished even before you entertain the desire. (Success, O monarch supreme, faithfully follows your heart’s desire and you get what you want even before you desire it.)’

When the king saw the guru so amiably disposed, he cheerfully said in gentle tones, ‘My lord, invest Rama with regal powers; be pleased to direct the necessary preparations to be made.

Let this happy ceremony take place in my life-time, that the eyes of all the people may be gladdened by the sight. By my lord’s favour Shiva has brought all to fulfilment, but I have still this one longing in my heart.
