If Bharata had never been born, imbued with the nectar of devotion to Sita and Rama, then who would have practised such self-control and penance, such continence, restraint and rigorous vows as transcend the imagination even of sages? Who by virtue of his high renown would have relieved us of our grief and burning sorrows, our poverty, pride and other sins, and in this Kaliyuga have forcibly diverted the mind of such crafty fools as Tulasidasa towards Rama?

All, says Tulasidasa, who with strict regularity and reverent hearts listen to Bharata’s acts shall assuredly be devoted to the feet of Sita and Rama and lose all interest in the pleasures of life.
