Abide, O Rama, in the minds of those whose nostrils ever devoutly breathe in the pure and lovely fragrance of offerings (flowers, sandal-paste, etc.) made to the Lord, who eat only that which has been dedicated to you and wear clothes and ornaments consecrated to the Lord;


- whose heads bow down most submissively and lovingly at the sight of a god, a guru or a Brahman; whose hands perpetually adore Rama’s feet; who cherish in their hearts faith in Rama and none else;


- and whose feet take them to holy places sacred to Rama. Again, those who are ever engaged in muttering your Name, the king of all sacred formulas, and worship you with all their kin;


- who offer the various kinds of libation and burnt-sacrifice; who feed the Brahmans and bestow liberal gifts on them and who look upon their guru as greater even that yourself and wait upon him and honour him in every way;


- who having done all this demand but one boon as their reward, devotion to Rama’s feet – enthrone yourself in the temple of their hearts, you two brothers together with Sita.


Those who know no lust or anger, arrogance, pride or infatuation, are without greed, excitement, attraction or aversion and who are free from guile, hypocrisy fraudulence – it is in their hearts that you should dwell, O Raghuraja.


Again, those who are beloved of all and work the good of all, to whom joy and sorrow, praise and abuse are alike; who scrupulously speak what is both true and kind; who, waking or asleep, place themselves under your protection;
