- the fire which consumes the dense forest of delusion, the sun that brings delight to the lotus-bed of saints, the lion who slays the elephant herd of demons, the hawk that kills the bird of birth and death! May he ever protect us!

I reverence Rama, whose eyes resemble the red lotus, who is elegantly dressed and is a full moon to Sita’s partridge-like eyes, a cygnet disporting in the holy lake of Shiva’s heart, broad-chested and long-armed.

- a Garuda to devour the snake of doubt, the queller of despair induced by insensible reasoning the uprooter of transmigration, the delighter of the gods, the embodiment of compassion! May he ever protect us!

I reverence Rama, who is both with and without attributes, incomprehensible as well as simple, who transcends knowledge, speech and the senses and is peerless, all-pure, complete, faultless and illimitable, the reliever of earth’s burden!

A veritable garden of wish-yielding trees to his votaries, dread foe of wrath, greed, pride and lust, perfect in wisdom and the bridge to cross the ocean of mundane existence, may that banner of the Solar race ever protect me!

Matchless in might of arm, the home of all strength, the armour for the protection of righteousness, endowed with a host of delightful virtues, may that Rama whose Name destroys the many sins of the Kaliyuga, be ever propitious to me!

Though he is passionless, all-pervading and imperishable, ever dwelling in the hearts of all, yet may the slayer of Khara, roaming about in the woods with his younger brother and Sita, abide in my soul!
