Him I adore, the passionless, the eternal, beyond the ordinary means of cognition, the sinless; the bestower of the peace of final liberation; who is continually worshipped by Brahma (the Creator), Shambhu (Lord Shiva) and Shesha (the Serpent King); knowable by the Vedanta, omnipresent, the sovereign of the world, the preceptor of the gods, Hari himself in the delusive form of man; the mine of compassion, the chief of the house of Raghu, the jewel of kings, whose name is Rama!

O Raghupati, I declare in truth, and you, too, know the inmost secrets of all, that there is no other craving in my heart but that you should grant me perfect devotion, O crest-jewel of the Raghu house, and make my heart clean of lust and every other sin!

I make obeisance to the Son of the Wind, the home of immeasurable strength, possessing a body shining like a mountain of gold (Sumeru), a fire to consume the forest of the demon race, the foremost among the wise, storehouse of every excellence, the chief of the monkeys, Raghupati’s noble messenger!

Hanuman was greatly delighted at heart when he heard the heartening speech of Jambavan. ‘Wait for me here, brothers.’ He said, ‘however great your discomfort, with only bulbs and roots and fruit for your food,

-till I see Sita and come back. The task will be accomplished, for I am greatly pleased.’ So saying, he bowed to them al and set out full of joy with the image of Raghunatha enshrined in his heart.

On the seashore stood a majestic hill and on to it he sprang as if in sport. Then, again and again invoking Raghubira, the Son of the Wind leapt with a mighty bound.

The hill on which Hanuman had planted his foot sank down at once into the nethermost world. On sped Hanuman like Raghunatha’s own unerring shaft.
