On hearing his most humble speech, the All-merciful smiled and said, ‘Tell me, then, some plan, my friend, whereby the monkey host may cross over.’

Lord, the two monkey brothers, Nila and Nala, were blessed in their childhood by a sage. Touched by them, the mightiest mountains will by your favour float upon the waves.

Keeping your majesty in mind, I too will help you with all my might. In this manner, my Lord, have the ocean bridged that your glory may be sung in all the three worlds.

With this arrow, Lord, slay the race of the iniquitous criminals inhabiting my northern coast.’ On hearing this, the compassionate and valorous Rama immediately relieved Ocean’s troubles.

Ocean rejoiced and was gratified to witness Rama’s astounding strength and valour. He related to the Lord all the doings of those villains and after doing homage to his feet, departed.

Ocean left for his home and his idea (of bridging the ocean) commended itself to Raghunatha. This story (of Rama’s exploits) which wipes out the impurities of the Kaliyuga has been sung by Tuasidasa according to his own (poor) lights. The multitude of Raghunatha’s perfections is an abode of delight, a panacea for all doubts and an unfailing remedy for sorrows. O foolish soul, forsake all other hope and confidence and sing or hear them sung.

A recital of the virtues of Raghunatha is the source of every blessing. Those who reverently hear them cross the ocean of mundane existence without any need for a boat.
