Although there were many manservants and handmaidens in the palace, all well-skilled in the art of service, she did all household work with her own hands and carried out Rama’s behests.


Sita herself skillfully performed what would afford delight to the gracious Lord, conversant as she was with the art of service. Devoid of pride and conceit, she waited upon Kausalya and all the other queens within the palace.


Ever blameless, O Uma, is Rama (Sita), Mother of the world, the object of the adoration of Brahma and all the divinities.


She whose gracious glance is coveted by the gods, but who looked not towards them, was devoted to Rama’s lotus feet, forgetting her own natural majesty.


All his brothers, too, served the Lord with great fidelity; for their devotion to Rama’s feet knew no bounds. They never ceased to watch his lotus face in the hope that the gracious Lord might be pleased to give some orders to them.


Rama too felt great affection for his brothers and taught them wisdom of every kind. The citizens lived very happily and all enjoyed delights to which even the immortal gods could scarce attain.


Day and night they prayed to God and sought the boon of devotion to the feet of the Lord Raghubira. Sita gave birth to two pretty sons, Lava and Kusha, hymned in the Vedas and Puranas.
