Shattering the might of the demon hosts, you bring delight to saints and sages and destroy sin; you are beneficent to Brahmans as are rain-clouds to the new-sprung crops. You are the refuge of the helpless and the befriender of the helpless.

By the might of your arm you have destroyed earth’s grievous burden and ingeniously slain the demons Khara, Dhushana and Viradha. Glory to you, O foe of Ravana, very bliss, noblest of kings, a moon to the lily of the house of Dasarath!

Your fair renown is known to the Puranas, the Vedas and the Agamas and is hymned in the congregations of gods, sages and saints. Compassionate are you, exterminator of false pride, altogether wise, jewel of Ayodhya!

Your name wipes out the impurities of the Kaliyuga and puts an end to worldly attachment. Pray protect your humble suppliant, O Lord of Tulasidasa!’

Having devoutly proclaimed Rama’s numerous perfections, Narada the sage returned to Brahma’s realm, enshrining the ocean of beauty in his heart.

Listen, O Girija; I have told you in full this glorious story to the best of my ability. But Rama’s acts are a thousand million and beyond all reckoning; not even the Vedas and Sharada (the goddess of speech) can tell them all.

Rama is infinite, and infinite his excellences; infinite are his births, his deeds and his names. Drops of water (in a shower of rain) may be counted or the particles of earth’s dust, but the exploits of Raghunatha cannot be recounted in full.
