How Hanuman, having heard all the circumstances from Sampati, leapt across the boundless ocean, made his way into Lanka and reassured Sita;

How he laid waste the grove (where Sita had been lodged), warned Ravana, set fire to the city and leapt back across the ocean, and how all the monkeys rejoiced Raghunatha and told him of Janaki’s welfare.

Then he described how Raghubira went and encamped with his army on the sea-shore, and how Vibhishana came and met him and how the ocean was bridged.

He told of the building of the bridge across the ocean and how the monkey host crossed over to the further shore, and how Angad, the most valiant son of Bali, went as an envoy to Ravana.

He described in considerable detail the story of the fierce battles between the demons and the monkeys, the might and valour and destruction of Kumbhakarna and Meghanada.

He related in detail the destruction of the demon host and various phases of the combat between Raghunatha and Ravana; the slaying of Ravana and the mourning of Mandodari, the coronation of Vibhishana and the cessation of the god’s sorrow;

Sita’s reunion with Raghunatha, how the gods with folded hands hymned the Lord’s praises and how the all-merciful Lord then mounted the aerial car, Pushpaka, along with the monkey and flew to Avadh (Ayodhya).
