All these glorious acts Kakabhushundi recited in full detail and told of Rama’s arrival at Ayodhya, his own capital. He then told the story of Rama’s coronation and described the city and all its royal polity.


Bhushundi related the whole story that I have recounted to you, Bhavani. When he heard the whole of Rama’s narrative, Garuda’s mind was filled with rapture and he said;


'Dispelled are my doubts, now that I have heard a full account of Rahgunatha’s deeds, and by your grace, O best of crows, I have developed a devotion to Rama’s (lotus) feet.


A mighty bewilderment possessed me when I saw the Lord in bondage on the battlefield; I wondered why Rama, who is the sum of all truth, consciousness and bliss, should be in such straits.


As I found his ways so entirely consistent with those of an ordinary man, a grievous doubt arose in my soul; and now I regard that error as a blessing an feel that the All-merciful has bestowed upon me a favour.


The pleasure afforded by the shade of a tree is best appreciated by him who is tormented by the scorching heat of the sun. had I not fallen a prey to this gross delusion, how should I have met you, father.


and how should I have heard the delightful story of Hari, the most wondrous lay sung in all its details? This is the doctrine of the Vedas, the Agamas and the Puranas and a pronouncement of all the adepts and sages – of this there is no doubt-
