When I heard of my Lord’s birth at Ayodhya, I started up and ran in an overwhelming ecstasy of love and went and witnessed the festive birthday scene, just as I described to you in my foregoing lay.

Thus in the belly of Rama I beheld many worlds, but what I saw could only be seen with one’s eyes; it was beyond all telling. Then once more I beheld the divine Rama, the gracious and all-wise Lord of illusion.

Again and again I pondered; but my understanding was confused and obscured by the mists of delusion. In less than an hour I had seen everything. My soul being utterly bewildered, I was weary.

Seeing my distress, the gracious Raghubira laughed; and – mark me, O Garuda of resolute mind – as soon as he laughed, I came out of his mouth.

Again Rama began to play the same childish pranks with me. I reasoned with myself in every way I could, but my mind could know no peace.

Seeing this childish play and recalling that majestic scene (which I had witnessed inside the Lord’s belly). I lost consciousness and crying, “Save me, O protector of all distressed worshippers!” dropped to the ground. No other word came to my mouth.

When the Lord saw me distraught with love, he checked the influence of his delusive potency. The Lord, who is ever merciful to the afflicted, placed his lotus hand on my head and relieved me of all my sorrow.
