Most assuredly passes over the sea of mundane existence. The power of the Name is manifest in the Kaliyuga and his this one sanctifying influence, that any merit conceived in the mind is rewarded but the demerit earned by the mind is not punished.

No other age can compare with the Kaliyuga provided that a man has faith (in its virtue). If he devotes himself to praising Rama’s spotless virtues, he passes over the sea of birth and death without effort.

Religion has four well-known pillars, of which one is predominant in the Kaliyuga it is charity that conduces to one’s spiritual good, in whatsoever way it is practised.

Prompted by Rama’s delusive power, the peculiar characteristics of each several age manifest themselves in the hearts of all. The presence of pure sattva (Goodness), tranquillity, wisdom and cheerfulness in the heart is the special virtue of the Satyayuga.

Abundance of the element of Goodness, with a slight admixture of Passion and an attachment to action, together with a general sense of happiness, are the characteristics of the Tretayuga. Much Passion, very little Goodness, and some Ignorance, together with a feeling of mingled joy and terror in the heart, are the distinguishing marks of the Dvaparayuga.

A large proportion of Ignorance and only a modicum of Passion, with universal antagonism, are the effects of the Kaliyuga. The wise discern the special characteristics of each age in their minds and forswearing unrighteousness, devote themselves to religion.

These characteristics of the several ages have no effect on him who is devoutly fond of Raghunatha’s feet. The deception practised by a juggler, O king of birds, is formidable indeed, but the tricks of the conjurer cannot deceive his own servants.
